2025 - ongoing

“Becoming Chimeric” is a workshop that explores hybrid selfhoods and glitched transformations through hands-on experimentation with AI and Extended Reality.
Emerging from my artistic practice and ongoing PhD research, the workshop introduces glitch aesthetics and chimeric operations as creative strategies to challenge fixed identity constructs and reimagine hybrid corporeality.
Participants collaborate with digital tools and AI to create glitched, chimeric avatars and augmented presences, engaging with speculative modes of self-representation shaped by creative processes, technological mediation, and posthuman imaginaries.

This workshop is not just about making avatars or learning new tools. It is about rethinking how we understand our self-body in digital space. How we layer, fragment, reassemble, multiply, and extend. Glitch - as rupture, as revelation - and chimeric layering - as the co-existence of multiple states - are not merely aesthetic disruptions. They offer pathways into fluid, unstable, unruly, multiple, and political notions of identity, where the body becomes a site of negotiation.

The workshop first iteration was presented during the series Collective Reflections on AI, Art & Culture, curated by Frederik Marroquín and Joanna Zabielska, and hosted at Semmelweisklinik in Vienna on May 24, 2025.

Glitched Identity, Extended Self, Augmented Body

2022

The workshop “Glitched Identity, Extended Self, Augmented Body” reflects on the redefinition of the self as well as the anxiety of body boundaries, consciousness, subjectivity and identity when using XR. Through the creation of glitched, fragmented, and extended bodies, the workshop explores AR as space for reimagining selfhood. Glitch aesthetics expose the instability, multiplicity, and hybridity at the core of contemporary identity, while the augmented body offers new ways of connecting with, negotiating, and transforming our digital selves.

The workshop was conceptualized as a support event to the solo show “Me, Masculine” by Uruguayan artist Camillo Nuñez at Improper Walls, Vienna, and presented on May 19 2022.

2020

The workshop “The Uncanny Other. Creating and Performing Avatars (Pandemic Survival Kit)” focuses on digital interventions in virtual spaces and bodies through emerging tools for artistic production. It explores the creation of face filters as a means to augment the physical self and opens up new modes of interaction and performance. By using the virtual as a medium, the workshop examines how avatars can become expressive extensions of the self, enabling playful, critical, and uncanny forms of embodiment and presence — especially in moments of isolation and digital dependency.

The workshop was presented at The Overkill Festival on December 4 2020, online
